The Macroinvertebrates Paleontology Laboratory (Laboratório de Paleontologia de Macroinvertebrados - LAPALMA) was established in the Science Faculty of Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in 2002. Its mission is to increase the knowledge on the systematics, taphonomy and paleoecology of Paleozoic (Paraná Basin) and Mesozoic (Bauru Basin) macroinvertebrates. Special emphasis is given to Corumbatai Formation (Late Permian) and Bauru Group (Late Cretaceous) bivalve mollusks, and to Ponta Grossa Formation (Devonian) trilobites arthropods.
